Alex Pancoe has spent his entire life in Chicago. It is no surprise, then, that over the years he has learned about the Windy City’s best places to eat, drink, and enjoy while out on the town.

Chicago offers countless bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. One such place is the The Pump Room, one of Alex’s favorite spots, has a view like no other in the city. Incredible views aside, it serves delectable food and cocktail offerings. When Pancoe wants a hefty steak, he knows better than to look past Mastro’s. With its renowned 44-ounce, double-cut porterhouse, Mastro’s offers exceptional cuisine alongside an extensive list of 70-plus wines. The live piano music and classy decor sets the mood for a romantic evening, a family get-together, or just about any other special occasion. Pancoe recommends the Bone-In Kansas City 18oz Strip with a side of roasted Brussels sprouts.

Like most of us, Alex Pancoe is always looking for a new place to sample unique cuisine and cocktails, spend time with friends and family, or just relax. In this blog, he reviews restaurants, food, drinks and other things he finds in and around the Windy City.

Born and raised in Highland Park, Alex Pancoe has always called Chicago his home. Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world, rich with life, history, tradition, and some of greatest sports teams ever. It is hard to grow up in Chicago and not be in avid sports fan. Pancoe has, and will always bleed blue and red for his beloved Chicago Cubs and purple for his alma mater, Northwestern University.

The grandson of former Northwestern professor and alum, Alex is proud to carry on the rich Northwestern family tradition. Needless to say his diehard passion for the Big Cats was instilled from a very early age. He vividly remembers watching the Northwestern Football team as a child and can still count on two hands the number of home games he has missed since the mid 90’s. While Alex recalls numerous childhood memories at Northwestern, none outweigh that of their historic run to the Rose Bowl when he was 9 years old.

Alex made the move from Evanston to Chicago after graduating from Northwestern in 2009. Since then, he has been pursuing his dream career with Morgan Stanley. He is also a big fan of skiing and hits the slopes whenever his busy schedule allows. Alex Pancoe is actively involved with Northwestern University and additionally is active with the JUF, the SAE Fraternity, and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital.

Cheers!
